eggCloud Access to Camera

We are developing augment reality apps and sometimes need to verify that everything works smooth against a number of real devices. Does eggCloud allow to access a camera on a remote device so that we can send to it an image we will later on play on by our AR module?

Thanks.

    Hello,

This question isn't really about eggCloud. All eggCloud does is act as a gatekeeper on devices -- it doesn't provide anything other than a path to the device based on a scheduled reservation. What you're really asking is whether VNC and perhaps eggPlant Functional provides access to this feature. The answer is probably not. Most of the time, probably in the interest of speed, the camera seems to bypass the display buffer in the device and just send things directly to the screen. Since the VNC server relies on the display buffer for the images it sends to eggPlant or just a VNC viewer, most of the time when you access the camera through this mechanism, you just see a black screen.

I'm not really sure what this question is asking. What is the "it" that you're sending an image to? What is an "AR module"? While you can't access the display of the camera, you might be able to access the camera controls (even if you just do so blindly, based on coordinates) and you should be able to access the photos that are taken. Whether that's adequate, only you can decide.
